A major filter manufacturer needed to upgrade their gasket to filter assembly system. Their existing system was slow and unreliable. Feeding the gaskets because they were flexible and tended to change shape presented a challenge.
Hoppmann designed a system that feeds the gaskets into an air conveyor to accumulate them for the assembly system. The gasket infeed transfer wheel accurately places the gaskets into the lower turret nest. The turret was designed to handle several different heights of oil filters. Filters with the same diameter are run with no physical changeover, the only necessary change being the height sensor. When the customer wished to change to a smaller or larger diameter filter, Hoppmann provided this customer with a color coded utility cart that held all the change tooling items in an organized and time saving fashion.
